Jewish students are under attack at Loyola University following the student government’s latest decision to cave to antisemitic demands to divest from Israel. This racist boycott against the sole democracy in the Middle East has been spearheaded by members of the hate group Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) in an effort to undermine academic freedom while demonizing Jewish students for supporting Israel.
Contrary to SJP’s claims, this rogue resolution does nothing to support Palestinians and everything to harm Jews. By encouraging efforts to economically strangle Israeli civilians, both Jews and Arabs alike, this radical legislation weaponizes antisemitic tropes in an effort to ignite Jew hatred and anti-Israel sentiments on campus.
What SJP conveniently fails to recognize in its latest assault is that efforts to boycott Israel destroy the livelihoods of not only Israelis but also Palestinians who rely on Israel’s vibrant economy for jobs unavailable under the tyrannical leadership of the Palestinian Authority. While Israel routinely employs Palestinian men and women, the Palestinian leadership regularly channels funds toward bolstering terrorism against innocent Israelis, further blocking economic opportunities for Palestinians.
Additionally, to coerce Loyola’s student government into divesting from Israel, radicals within SJP further claimed that supporting Israel promotes war against the Palestinian people. This atrocious smear fails to acknowledge the fact that America’s bipartisan support for Israel’s defense technology, such as the Iron Dome, protects both Israeli and Palestinian lives against terrorist groups which indiscriminately fire rockets at civilian areas, such as last May when over 300 rockets fired at Israel by Hamas terrorists landed in Gaza. Withdrawing support for Israel’s right to defend itself directly advocates for violence against innocent civilians.
Time and time again, we have witnessed how anti-Israel boycotts have resulted in antisemitic incidents which aim to attack Jews on American college campuses. Just last May, antisemitic incidents more than doubled across America due to anti-Israel sentiment surrounding Hamas’s targeting of Israeli civilians. As Jew hatred continues to surge, with 2021 being the most antisemitic year in the past decade, we must not allow Loyola’s Jewish and pro-Israel students to fear their support for one of the most progressive nations on earth.
Join us in demanding for Loyola University’s administration to reject SJP’s antisemitic demands to divest from Israel without delay!
