At a time when antisemitism is surging across America and around the world, we must stand boldly against Jew hatred and the demonization of Israel. Unfortunately, the Case Western Reserve University student government has ignited this hatred on its campus by passing a bigoted Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) resolution that vilifies the sole democracy in the Middle East while ostracizing Jewish students.
This antisemitic resolution, spearheaded by the radical hate group Students for Justice in Palestine, targets Israel and Zionists (with which the vast majority of Jews identify) in a manner that will alienate and endanger the Jewish community at Case Western. With antisemitic attacks skyrocketing, this resolution directly infringes on the safety of Jewish students and faculty members on campus.
Additionally, this BDS resolution further acts as a barrier to peace between Israelis and Palestinians by spreading lies about the conflict to malign the Jewish State. In reality, Israeli companies and universities provide economic and educational opportunities for Palestinians unavailable under the failed leadership in Gaza and the West Bank. In doing so, Israel serves as a beacon of hope and coexistence in a region filled with persecution and unrest.
Unfortunately, supporters of the BDS Movement directly deny Israel’s right to exist in peace and security. This is demonstrated through chants such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which calls for Israel’s complete eradication from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.
