Thank Governor Newsom for Visiting Israel

Governor Gavin Newsom is in Israel today to show his solidarity and support. This brave gesture is deeply meaningful for the Jewish state, which is still reeling from the massacre on October 7, when Hamas terrorists violated Israel’s borders and butchered at least 1,400 innocents, wounded another 4,600, and took at least 203 captives to Gaza.

We do not take Governor Newsom’s support for granted. In the wake of the horrors perpetrated on Israel — including incidents of rape as a weapon of war and the torture of 80% of all bodies found, including children — support for the suffering Israelis was far from universal.

Immediately after the attacks, Pro-Hamas rallies were quickly organized at a number of California universities. At Cal State Long Beach, a poster advertising a pro-Hamas protest embraced the image of a terrorist paraglider, recalling the Hamas attack on a peaceful music festival in southern Israel that left 260 murdered and an unknown number in an endless nightmare as hostages in Gaza, subject to rape and abuse.

Thank Governor Newsom for standing with the California Jewish community, at a million strong the second largest in the nation. Following the largest killing of Jews in a single day since the Holocaust, he listened to the agony of his Jewish constituents and adjusted his travel itinerary to visit the Jewish homeland in the wake of its tragedy.

Add your name to let Governor Newsom know that his visit is welcomed for what it is: a powerful symbol to the world that California stands united with Israel.
