The University of Massachusetts Boston Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapter has coerced the university’s administration into banning Sabra Hummus from campus due to it being made within Israel. To achieve this, members of the radical hate group have spewed antisemitic claims that Israel, one of the most thriving and diverse democracies in the world, discriminates against its minority population.
What members of SJP fail to mention is that this fraudulent claim was created by the world’s most prolific antisemites and hate groups as a means to economically strangle Israelis, both Jews and Arabs alike. At its core, the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement aims to discriminate against the Jewish community by unjustly targeting their indigenous homeland, which serves as one of the most progressive countries on earth.
From Israel’s current government, which is its most diverse to date with eight parties being represented, including Israel’s Arab party, Ra’am, to the country’s renowned universities, which welcome students from around the world and provide exceptional educational opportunities to Israelis, both Jews as well as Arabs, which account for over 50,000 students enrolled in Israeli universities, Israel has embodied its commitment to inclusion for people of all backgrounds.
Unfortunately, by boycotting Sabra Hummus, the University of Massachusetts Boston would not only be caving to radical hate groups which stand against Israel’s immense progress, but would also be discriminating against Jewish students who rely on Sabra Hummus as a limited kosher food option on campus.
Urge the University of Massachusetts Boston Administration and Dining Service to reject SJP’s antisemitic attacks by standing with the Jewish community (and, yes, hummus) without delay!
